Hiraeth (pronounced [hiraɪ̯θ])

 

   






    Got the chance to meet her when she was promoting Chance; went down to London to an event and got a photo; sadly lost when I got flooded out a few years back; along with a signed movie poster. There was a delay when it came to my turn as, I think, something needed to be replaced before they continued. All of which meant I got to chance for a short chat; every word she seemed to recall when I travelled up to Aberdeen for a signing on January 4th; bought her a birthday card for which I got a hug and a kiss on the cheek. 

    AB can swear to make sailors blush, and legend has it was challenged to a bet that she wouldn't yell her favourite aloud in a restaurant. Personally I don't think Cunt should be a swear word, but hey! she won the bet! 

    Her greatest character's death sparked long dormant writing needs, that are still alight today. 

    The innocent days of WillTara are long gone now (I write her mostly with Faith these days) but the magic that AB brought to the character will never be tarnished the creator who brought the character to my world. 
   
    Happy Birthday to Tara Maclay's real life avatar, and may she one day get the recognition she so richly deserves.

    Back when Buffy was on the air I could not imagine Tara without Willow; that has changed an awful lot since I grew a little smarter; if not wiser. Here is a picture of AB with ED; actor for the character I most often write Tara with these days. On the show they barely interacted; certainly not with Faith AS Faith, but never had two characters on the show more reason to find each other and pull each other through life. 

    Happy Birthday AB; you created a character that will live with me forever.
