This was the first Doctor Who story I wrote that made it to where someone could read it, I think. Still pretty pleased with it. One aspect of the new incarnation of the show I do like is that it does show The Doctor having to face some of the consequences of his decisions, and their effect on those that travelled as Companions; as one reactor said of Rory, and why they liked him, "... he stands up to him, and tells him how dangerous he is to those around him."
Season five is still the only season of the new show I like, and I wis they'd do less connecting with the original show, and more alluding and referencing if that makes sense. It's not the same show, and I'd probably have enjoyed it more if I hadn't grown up with the original show.
Amy reminded me so much pf my favvourite companions; Sarah-Jane; Ace & Liz Shaw; I'd also include Zoe, though I know her better from novelisations; she was in the first story with my all-time favourite aliens, the Ice Warriors; who grew into by far the most interesting and ambiguous antagonists of the original show.
The bond between her and Rory was so powerful and strong, and it was also quite obvious that she wanted to run from the strength of those feelings; probably because until the moment she had to face his death she could not imagine a world without him.
